Reception pupils had an exciting visit from PC Andy last week, where they learned all about what it’s like to be a real police officer. The children had the chance to sit in a police car and even turn on the flashing blue lights, which was a highlight of the day!
The visit sparked so much interest that the pupils couldn’t wait to head back to class and create some fantastic pictures to remember the special experience!
To start their new writing unit, based on the book The Midnight Fair, Year 2 went to the Queen’s Hill Fairground. They played hook a flamingo, hoopla, splat the fish and bean bag toss. They even got to play the tin can alley which had teachers’ faces on them! They had a great morning and are ready to get started with their writing!
In Art Year 2 have been exploring architecture. They looked at famous buildings around the world before designing and making their own buildings out of cardboard. At the end of the unit, an architect came into school to tell them about what it was like to do the job in real life and even showed them some examples of plans and architectural drawings.
Year 5 has been tasting ingredients in preparation for their cookery sessions this half term. They’ll be making delicious Greek salads! The staff were really impressed by the children’s willingness to try new things, and feta cheese and olives were a real hit! We can’t wait to share our creations.
Our pupils had an amazing time at Bookbugs and Dragontales Bookshop this week! They had the opportunity to choose new books for our school libraries and even meet the author and illustrator, Ben Rothery, who was working on a window display at the shop.
We can’t wait to see the books we selected in the Book Nook at school!
Our Year 6 pupils led a wonderful Remembrance assembly today featuring songs, artwork and poetry. We were joined by Mr Fraser and Mr Honour, who also shared insights about their medals from military service.
Today, classes visited polling stations 🗳️ to elect their new school council members. we have been learning all about democracy and fairness.

What an amazing turn out we had for our first Workshare of the year. Lots of proud children sharing their amazing learning with parents and carers!
We have been learning about the changes that Autumn brings in Reception and so we decided to see if we could find any evidence of Autumn arriving in Queen’s Hills. The children worked in pairs and hunted for Autumn items from a checklist. All of the children did super listening and showed our 3 school rules of Ready, Safe and Respectful!
Our amazing teaching team have been painting self-portraits after school today for our Colours of Queen’s Hill art project. They’ll be going on display in the main entrance next week.
The Colours of Queen’s Hill is a wonderful art project for our whole-school community, where everyone will be creating their own self-portrait to celebrate individuality and diversity, inspired by the work of artist Angélica Dass.
