Miss Wright’s challenge! Is it “heavy” or “light”?

Can you try Miss Wright’s challenge and go on a “heavy” or “light” hunt? See if you can write a “h” for the “heavy” objects and an “l” for the “light” objects. You could use kitchen scales, or you could have a go at making your own scales!

To make a set of DIY balance scales, all you need is:

– A children’s clothes hanger with notches – 2 x paper cups – String – Scissors

1. Cut two pieces of string equal in length.

2. Make two separate holes in the cups and tie the string through the holes to create a handle.

3. Hang the cups over either side of the clothes hanger.

4. Hang your scales from somewhere that they can swing easily.

Don’t forget to take a picture of your hunt and put it on Tapestry!

Curriculum Day Activities

Today we’re celebrating the launch of our new school topic all around growth. Join in with Mr. Cross at home, as he teaches you how to create two unique pieces of art. Don’t forget to share your learning with your class teacher on Seesaw, Tapestry or Google Classroom.

Bean Diary: Week 1

As part of our learning over the next few weeks, we will be making a ‘bean diary’ where we will record how the plant has changed each week. If you had a go at planting runner beans at home, you are welcome to draw your own plant in your bean diary!

You will need paper, a pencil and some coloured pencils.

Have a look at the picture of the runner bean. What does it look like? Can you draw the bean in ‘week 1’ of your bean diary?

Charlie challenge: can you think of a word to describe the bean? Have a go at writing the initial sound next to your picture (for example, ‘s’ for small).

Please upload a picture of your runner bean diary to Tapestry and come back next week for an update on Miss Wright’s runner bean plant!

Plant a magic bean with Miss Wright

Hello everybody!

Our new words for this week are ‘grow’ and ‘planting.’ I had a go at planting my own bean like Jasper the cat! This means that I have put the bean in some soil so that it can grow. Can you have a go at planting your own bean?

You will need:
– runner bean seeds
– a small plant pot
– soil
– a garden tool for scooping (a tablespoon or cup also work fine!)

Make sure you keep your pot in a sunny spot and water the bean every day. This will help it to grow!

Don’t worry if you can’t plant your own bean at home, as I will be posting a picture of my bean plant every week.

Happy planting!
From Miss Wright 🙂
