First Aid in Year 4

This week, to link in with our English work on Shackleton’s adventure to Antarctica, we have spent some time in the outdoor classroom learning about basic first aid. We have role played various situations, including asthma attacks, bleeding and calling for an ambulance!

The key points we learnt were:

  • To keep calm
  • Check it’s safe to help
  • Ask what happened and what hurts
  • Say kind, comforting things
  • Take action if you can
  • Get help (an adult or call 999)

Sharing stories with buddies

Before the Easter holidays, children in Year 4 spent a number of weeks writing their own legends based on Blue Frog: The Legend of Chocolate. They designed front covers for their stories and made them into mini books.

Today, the children in Year 4 shared their stories with their Year 1 buddies!

Stone Age Day in Year 3!

Today, Year 3 have been learning all about their new history topic of The Stone Age. They have looked at the stone age diet, the stone age number system and created their own cave paintings.

Roundnet Taster Session

Y5 were given the opportunity yesterday to take part in Roundnet taster sessions run by Zero Bounds. The children and teachers absolutely loved the game! It was simple to play and inclusive for all but it was an incredible workout with its fast paced gameplay.

RSHE in Year 4

This afternoon in Year 4, we have been thinking about the similarities and differences that we have with one another. As part of our lesson, we created a ‘web of similarities’ to discover all the things that connect us together. These included the types of families we have, our favourite pets and our hobbies.

We enjoyed learning something new about our friends!

Oobleck fun in Year 6!

To end science week, we spent the afternoon making a non-Newtonian fluid called Oobleck! This fluid is either liquid or solid, depending on the pressure you put on it. The children got into small groups and slowly added water to cornflour until their fluid was the correct consistency.

(They also made a huge mess in the process!)

Year 1 Writing

We have been learning about the layout and structure of leaflets. To tie into our topic of pets, we have written a leaflet to inform the public how to look after their pets. We have used commas, question marks, and the children are beginning to use adjectives. Well done Year 1.

Year 1 trip to Synagogue

Year 1 had a fantastic trip to the Adat Yeshua Messianic Synagogue in Norwich earlier in the term. Children learnt the about the important parts of the synagogue and had a chance to look at their Torah scroll.

Children then worked in groups learning about important festivals and Jewish celebrations including Shabbat, Jewish clothes and symbols in the synagogue and the books and hymns that they use.

Year 3 Outdoor Learning

Year 3 had a great time during outdoor learning using manmade and natural materials to make boats. Their learning was linked to the story ‘A Home on the River’ and they discussed our school crowns during this activity including curiosity, concentration and independence. The children agreed they need to work on their teamwork when tidying up at the end!
