‘Belly Buddies’ mindfulness breathing exercise
During busy times, it is important to take a moment to be calm. Here is a simple breathing activity for children and parents to do at home. All you need is your favourite soft toy!
Belly Buddies
Find a space with limited noise or distractions, such as your child’s bedroom. Lie down on a soft surface with your legs and arms spread wide and your palms facing down. Take your favourite soft toy and place it on top of your belly button. As you take a deep breath in, count “1, 2, 3” and watch as your toy rises up with your belly. Repeat as you breathe out, counting “1, 2, 3” and watch as your toy sinks down. Repeat 5 times or more. You may wish to add relaxing music. Storytime
We love reading stories at Queen’s Hill! Watch the latest videos of our staff sharing their favourite book.
Handa’s Surprise
This week, we have read the story of ‘Handa’s Surprise’. We talked about the different types of fruit and animals and explored where we live and the places that we have visited.
Crime Scene!
The children couldn’t believe it this week when they saw a crime scene in the classroom! After lots of investigating and demanding to see the CCTV the children decided that it must have been Goldilocks breaking in. The week has been filled with creating lots of wanted posters, police investigations and designing and making traps to capture Goldilocks.
Chinese New Year in Reception
This week in Reception we have enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the rat. We have made lanterns to decorate our classroom and we have each done a piece of writing on an animal of our choice from the ancient story.
