Year 6 have started their second unit of work, writing descriptively about settings and characters. At the end of their drafting sessions, Year 6 have shown teamwork and collaboration to improve and redraft sections of their work using their green pens. Now, their writing reads better and uses more features of the success criteria. Great skills that are starting to be improved!

Year 2 Self Portraits

Year 2 have started the year by creating self portraits. They sketched their own face before making a background for their picture using collage, black fine liner details and watercolours. They did a fantastic job, well done Year 2!

Year 5 English

Year 5 have enjoyed exploring the text ‘Planet SOS’.
They investigated different monsters and their contribution to climate change.

Children were able to research their focus area, create a poster and present information to the class.
Everyone was proud of their confidence, independence and creativity.

Year 4 – Roman Day

Year 4 had a fantastic Roman Day with Titus Flavius. We learned about life as a Roman legionnaire, practised marching, held weapons, tried on armour, asked lots of questions and all managed to pass the 5 stages of becoming a Roman soldier. Back in class there were lessons on Roman numerals and we all tried making our own mosaic from tesserae.

All about me

Reception have been settling in to starting school and looking at the topic “All about me”. We have been sharing facts about ourselves and drawing self-portraits- noticing lots of our facial features. This week we have been learning about the story “And Tango Makes 3”. In the story, Tango lives in the zoo with two daddies. We have been talking about all of our families and who we live in a house with. We have discussed that every family is special and unique, but the thing that they all have in common is that there is lots of love! Children made marks as to who lives in their house and if they have any pets.

A mystery box!

Year 1 had a mystery delivery last week! A strange box arrived in our classroom in the afternoon. The children guessed what might be inside the box and were showing great curiosity. We opened the box and found a book inside called ‘Not a Box’. We read it and found that it is about how a cardboard box can be anything you want it to be if you use your imagination!

Year 5 Typography

Year 5 have been exploring typography. Today, they used outdoor materials to inspire their own font. Have a look at their fantastic work!

Two-week art project: self-portrait

Year 6 have used the work of Mike Barrett to inspire their own pieces of artwork. The children created a self portrait which incorporates colours they feel reflect their personality and character. Everyone has shown brilliant grit and determination and creativity during this project!

A fantastic start for Y6!

A warm welcome to all- children and parents 😊 We have had an excellent start to the year, starting with nominating and democratically voting for our class representatives for School Council. The children were creative when writing their speeches and showed excellent teamwork when preparing.

It has been great to see everyone engaging in the process!
