Today in Year 3 we performed the song we had been learning (let your spirit fly) and looked at composing skills. We recapped quavers, crotchets and minims before attempting to write them.
Today in school we have had a curriculum day in honour of Norfolk Black History Month. Across the school, children have been learning about influential Black people; Chadwick Boseman, Kadeena Cox, Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Mo Farah and John Boyega. They have looked into their achievements and contributions and why they have inspired people across the world with their work and their amazing approaches to life.
We were also treated to sessions of African dancing and drumming with the PanAfro Band. It was a joy to see everyone moving and enjoying themselves and experiencing this wonderful style of music and dance.
Throughout our school year, we are committed to celebrating diversity across our curriculum and in all of our learning and so this is just an opportunity to extend the already wonderfully diverse curriculum we have here at Queens Hill.
Year 3 looked at mixing primary colours to make secondary colours. We then added white to find different shades. We had lots of fun and made lots of mess!
We had fun in music today recapping different musical notes and rhythms. We had time to improvise with instruments from the music trolley and got to perform in front of the class!
We practised our addition with Miss Peek today. We first added to 10 and then challenged ourselves to 30. We had so much fun!
Some of us worked with other teachers to complete problem solving activities too!
Year 3 had so much fun today creating jack-in-the-boxes. We showed creativity and grit and determination!
We had fun playing games to help us add 3 numbers today. We all started with the mild challenge and moved up a level when we felt confident.
Some of the Year 3 and 4 children took part in a football session this afternoon. It was great to see their teamwork skills develop and their positive attitude towards helping and supporting each other.
Year 3 found out all about the topics they would be learning this year. Look at these amazing Stonehenge creations, made from resources around the classroom.
